There are many question marks circulating the upcoming Florida Gator’s football season but the biggest one lies at quarterback with Luke Del Rio out until fall due to shoulder surgery.
Freshman quarterbacks Feleipe Franks, Kyle Trask and Kadarius Toney report for spring practice looking to earn the starting spot come fall.
Franks starts the spring taking snaps with the first team as Trask begins with the second. Toney, more of an athlete than a quarterback, gets reps here and there filling in for the sidelined Del Rio.
Both Franks and Trask are comparable in size and strength as they can both launch the ball out of The Swamp. Despite their similarities, Franks has the edge due to his leadership that highlights his confidence both on and off the field.
In addition, the Gators are bringing in 4-star recruit Jake Allen this fall, but he will be an unlikely competitor for the starting spot as Franks and Trask are set to complete their second full spring with the team.
Del Rio is scheduled to be back in time for the season opener but many are unsure if he is the answer. There is no “Spots Back” on this team for Del Rio as it will be a full out competition to the end.
